Chinese coach allays Zhao Ruirui fears
Beijing, China, April 12, 2004 - Chen Zhonghe, head coach of the Chinese national women’s Volleyball team, has said that Zhao Ruirui is certain to represent China at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.
Zhao Ruirui, the 1.97cm middle blocker, has not appeared in any of the first three matches in the friendly series against Japan in Southern China because of injuries and doubts had arisen over the player’s participation in the upcoming Olympic Games in Athens.
Chen Zhonghe admitted in an interview that Zhao Ruirui suffered injuries to her right ankle during a training session in late March and is now in hospital receiving treatment.
However, doctors have informed that the talented spiker, who played a key role in helping China to win their first World Cup title in 18 years last year, would make a full recovery before August.
"I can assure you that Zhao Ruirui will definitely take part in the Olympic Games ... I am full of confidence," a determined Chen Zhonghe admitted.
