Can Anyone Stop Brazilian Dominance?

Milan, Italy, May 31, 2005 - The women from Brazil continue to dominate the SWATCH-FIVB World Tour as the South American country has won the last four gold medals on the international tour entering the third annual Italy Open during the first full week of June.

The US$200,000 Italy Open is the first of eight weeks of competition in Europe for the women's SWATCH-FIVB World Tour as the top teams internationally prepare for the 2005 SWATCH-FIVB World Championships in Berlin June 21-26.

With the main competition centered at the Arco della Pace (Arc of Peace) - Parco Sempione, other matches will be played at the Castello - L.go Feltrami and the Piazza Duomo. Country quota matches for the Italy Open will be played the afternoon of June 7.

Qualifying rounds will be played June 8 to determine the final teams for the 32-team Main Draw. Four days of Main Draw competition ends June 12 when the final two teams play for the $32,000 first-place prize.

Following the Athens 2004 Olympic Games last August, only the Czech Republic team of Eva Celbova and Sona Novakova have been able to capture a podium berth on the women's SWATCH-FIVB World Tour as the Brazilians have snared 11 of the possible 12 medals in four events.

Each of the four events featured an All-Brazilian final as the string started with Shelda Bedê and Adriana Behar capturing the 2004 Italy Open over Shaylyn Bedê Renata Ribeiro as the Czech Republic placed third. In the 2004 season finale in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil captured the top six places as Ana Paula Connelly and Sandra Pires defeated Shelda and Adriana for the title.

With the start of the 2005 SWATCH-FIVB World Tour, Brazilians have posted 1-2-3 finishes in China and Japan. Juliana Felisberta Silva and Larissa Franca defeated Shelda and Adriana for the Shanghai gold medal May 21.

Shaylyn, Shelda's younger sister, and Ana Paula captured the title May 29 in Osaka, Japan, where they upset Juliana and Larissa in the finals. The match marked the end of the Shaylyn/Ana Paula partnership as the two players will compete with different team mates in Italy.

Ana Paula will join forces with Leila Barros while Shaylyn will enter the first European event with Thatiana Soares. Leila had delayed the start of her beach season due to her Indoor participation. A Sydney 2000 Indoor Volleyball bronze medallist for Brazil, Leila competed on the SWATCH-FIVB World Tour with Sandra Pires (2002) and Monica Rodrigues (2003) with her best finishes being fifths with both partners.

Following the Milan stop, the international tour stages its first of five-straight mixed gender events in the Swiss Alps at Gstaad June 14-19. The $1-million SWATCH-FIVB World Championships is set for June 21-26 in Berlin followed by the Norway Grand Slam June 28-July 3 in Stavanger.

各站的资料。但是如果积分不够，就不能参加6月21日在德国举行的世界女子沙滩排球锦标赛了。

资格预赛将在第三轮决出8对选手参加正式赛事
露露和大眼她们必须胜两场才能出线，一旦失败，则将被淘汰。
